Donovan :: Newborn Session

A few weeks ago I did a newborn shoot for baby Donovan and his parents, Amy & Lorenzo. Donovan was super wide-awake the whole time, no matter how hard we tried to get him to fall asleep for a few pictures. Amy & Lorenzo's dogs were also very interested in the session, and joined in a few times :)

You can see more of the images at my Facebook page!

CLR-15 FWD Advon Deployment

This deployment is officially underway, and I have to say I'm relieved that it's started. We've only known he was leaving since December, and the knowledge of the upcoming separation still wears on you. Now, we can just look forward to homecoming :)

I took my camera to the deployment and snapped a few pictures - you can see them below.

The 22 Area parade deck at about 12:30 AM.

It was so chilly that night! All the little kids were bundled up.

After the weapons were checked out, bags were dropped off...the waiting starts.

Finally the buses pulled up, and it was time to say goodbyes.

Prayers for a safe deployment, and safe travels for the main body of CLR-15 FWD as well.

I'm getting back in the swing of weekend portrait sessions since I took off almost 2 months before my husband left. Looking forward to meeting some wonderful new families and creating priceless memories.

Cupcakes, Anyone?

Anyone who knows me well knows I have an insatiable sweet tooth. That being said, my husband and I hit up Cupcake Love in Solana Beach recently. Super yummy cupcakes - (warning) they are incredibly rich, and it may be a better idea to try their smaller cupcakes in a few different flavors than getting the larger ones. We made that mistake ;)

Here's one of my cats Gracie guarding her cupcake!

She's up on the Cupcake Love website as well - you can check out Cupcake Love's Photos and hopefully she can win us some free cupcakes!

Trip to the San Diego Zoo!

After the big rush of holiday portraits, I've been taking a few weeks off work pretty much. Deployment is just around the corner, and I'm trying to spend weekends with my husband as much as possible.

Last week, we went to the SD Zoo with my friend Justine, her husband Andrew, and Andrew's son, Parker. AD military members get in free, FYI - and dependents are 10% off at the gate or you can get tickets at the ITT office on base as well.

The zoo was huge, and it was great to see Parker all excited to see the animals. It definitely was a lot of walking though - although not as much walking as my husband and I did this past weekend in San Francisco. Stay tuned for an update about the "San Francisco Death March", as my husband termed it.

My favorite pictures of the animals this trip were all birds - the larger animals seemed to all be sleeping in the corners of the cages.

Oh, and the meerkat of course!

Parker loved just watching all the animals.

We also got the chance to wait in line & feed the giraffes! If you're ever at the SD Zoo, take the time to do this - it really was a lot of fun.

Parker is just too cute, haha. He was trying to look inside my lens.

Classic overstimulation, haha. One hand petting the goat, and he's already looking at what else he can do.

We had a great day, and I had a great laugh when Justine texted me a photo of Parker passed out asleep on the ride back home!
